One of Croydon's newest schools, Chestnut Park Primary, held it's official opening ceremony this week to celebrate settling into its new building on St James' Road. The Thornton Heath school, which was jointly funded by Croydon Council and the Education Funding Authority, cost £10 million to build. A beautiful tribute is being paid this morning ahead of the funeral of a Croydon schoolboy who fought a courageous battle against a brain tumour. Christy Jordan passed away at his Shirley home last Wednesday (May 10) having been diagnosed with the tumour on Christmas Eve 2015.
