A man sparked a security alert in Croydon this afternoon after a smoke alarm was found 'dumped' in a Tesco car park and the store's manager became suspicious of it beeping. A number of shops in the Whitehorse Road area had to close and evacuate customers, while officers from the Metropolitan Police acted swiftly by cordoning off several roads.The cordon was set up around Whitehorse Road's junction with Windmill Road and Northcote Road while they investigated what was causing the beeping inside...
